CityLife Church - Oromo Service

Paulos Djini
Paulos Djini
Oromo Pastor
We invite you to the Oromo language service at Citylife Church - Knox.

Together with the Citylife Church family, we endeavor to raise up fervent followers of Jesus Christ who will impact communities, cities, and nations for the Kingdom of God. CityLife Oromo Speaking Congregation seeks to be relevant to our community, our culture and our time.

Weekly celebration events are a time for the whole church to gather together in unity. Our purpose is to meet with God through prayer and worship, to fellowship with other Christians and to grow through receiving the Word of God.

In our meetings, you can expect a friendly atmosphere, where people genuinely care about each other. The music will be contemporary and inspiring; the messages will be relevant and practical. We have a time of tea & coffee for everyone. Oromo Church Congregation

We have special programs for children, and life and personal development training programs called LIFETRAX, for adults.

It is our prayer that you will have a deeper relationship with God today and experience the fullness of His life offered to you in Christ.

God bless you!

Brief Profile of the OROMO People

The Oromo community in Australia have migrated from East Africa – Ethiopia. The majority of Oromo people are found in Ethiopia and some in Kenya. Ethiopia today is a land of 70 million people of various cultural backgrounds. The most numerous of these, totalling over 30 million are the Oromo people. The Oromo language ranks second among the African indigenous languages in terms of the number of speakers and the geographic area it covers.

Twenty years ago the first Oromo speaking Africans began to settle in Melbourne, Australia, and since then the community has kept on growing.

The Oromo speaking congregation launched its celebration at Citylife Church – Knox in February 2004. Our congregation provides an opportunity for expression of worship for the first generation of Oromo speaking migrants in their heart language.
